College Measures has won investment from the Gates
Foundation to develop three tools, all designed to help inform decisions about
the economic value of different schools, degrees, and majors. These will ensure
students have the data to help inform their decision about higher education and
their place in the workforce. The students and their families will be better
equipped to decide where and what to study, and how much to spend and/or borrow
to achieve a degree. The beneficiaries will be able to see what degrees will
give them the best chance to get a job and earn a strong wage upon graduation.
The tools:
• The College
Investment Tool (CIT) provides a clear, understandable estimate of net return
on higher education investment by degree, by major and by institution
• The Labor
Market Demand Tool (LMDT) maps the supply and demand of labor in the field of
study, in both local and state labor markets
• The E-learning
Module ensures that financial and economic concepts and their implications are
understood and can inform decisions about majors and degrees.
